Elkridge Man Accused of Burying Wife's Body in Backyard Indicted

Robert Jarrett faces first-degree murder charges and is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.


Robert Jarrett, the Elkridge man charged with killing his wife and burying her body under a shed in his backyard, was indicted on first-degree murder charges Wednesday.

April 19 with first and second-degree murder in the death of his first wife, Christine Jarrett, whom he reported missing in January 1991.

According to police, Jarrett reported that the couple got into an argument and his wife left and never returned to their residence on Claire Drive, according to charging documents.

On April 18, the Howard County Police Department unearthed the remains of under a shed behind the Jarretts’ Elkridge home based on "information that reinforced the possibility that the case may have involved foul play,” according to a statement from the Howard County Police Department.
