False Alarm on Bellanca Drive

The fire department found no cause for concern after investigating a reported chlorine leak.

Firetrucks and special operations teams converged on Bellanca Drive in Elkridge on Friday night after a resident reported a chlorine leak, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

"They went down there with monitors and checked the whole neighborhood, and they couldn't find anything," said Battalion Chief Eric Proctor.

The fire department investigated the scene between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., according to Proctor.

On Wednesday, April 4, a police helicopter and patrols saturated the area near golf course at approximately 2:30 a.m.

"The helicopter was in that area for a check on the welfare call (it was non-criminal)," said Howard County Police Department spokesperson Bryce Buell.

Officers were "looking for a person the police wanted to talk to in order to see if they were okay," said Buell, who told Patch no further information was available about the nature of the incident.
