Fire Across from Elkridge Flea Market

The blaze took firefighters 45 minutes to bring under control, said officials.

Firefighters from three counties were needed to bring a blaze under control across from the  in Elkridge Wednesday night, said officials.

No one was injured, according to initial reports.

At 10:15 p.m., a person passing by the flea market called 9-1-1 to report a fire across the street, said Battalion Chief Eric Proctor.

The fire was on 7471 Washington Blvd., at Central Transport, a trucking facility.

When firefighters arrived, they found a trailer ablaze with flames that had spread to a nearby building, said Proctor.

Approximately 30 employees who had been working in the building escaped before rescue teams got to the scene, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

Baltimore and Anne Arundel firefighters were called in to assist with the blaze, which took 45 minutes to bring under control, said Proctor. During that time, Route 1 was shut down for approximately 30 minutes.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
