Fire on Route 1 at Troy Hill

The fire overtook multiple buildings Friday morning, said Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Route 1 was shut down and four buildings engulfed in flames as the result of a fire Friday morning, according to Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS).

“At approximately 2 a.m, units responded to the 6900 block of Washington Boulevard for reports of a brush fire,” said Jackie Cutler, spokeswoman for HCDFRS. “Upon arrival, personnel found a large outbuilding and three trailers fully engulfed in flames. The two adjacent buildings on this commercial property were also exposed to the fire.”

Cutler said that Washington Boulevard was closed to traffic as firefighters, Howard County police and the State Highway Administration assisted in clearing the scene.
