There were no injuries as a result of the derailment, according to the fire department.

Two freight trains collided on the 8400 block of Dorsey Run Road Friday morning, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS).

The trains were empty and there were no injuries as a result of the 2:10 a.m. crash, which occurred as the conductor was attempting to reposition the train from one rail line to another, said Jackie Cutler, spokeswoman for HCDFRS.

Telephone wires came down but there was no impact to telephone service, according to Cutler.
