Hanover Road Crash Damages a Transformer, Knocks Out Power

Howard County police have issued the following update on the incident.

Howard County police said a truck hit a telephone pole Tuesday night on Hanover Road, causing a portion of the road to be shut down while crews began repairs to restore electricity.

The incident occurred at 8:47 p.m. on Hanover Road, between Patuxent Quarter and Hanover Crossing roads.

Howard County police officials said there was no indication in police reports that a driver fled the scene of the collision or that there were any injuries.

Parts of the road were temporarily closed as BGE conducted repairs. The pole contained telephone, cable and electrical wires, police said.

BGE spokeswoman Rachael Lighty said about 150 customers lost power as a result of the incident; all were restored as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.
