Jury Selection Begins Tuesday in Jarrett Murder Trial

Robert Jarrett Jr. faces a count of first-degree murder.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday for Robert Jarrett Jr., who is accused of murdering his wife and burying her under a shed in his backyard.

Jarrett faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of his then-wife, Christine Jarrett.

In a motion hearing in Circuit Court in Decemnber, a judge ruled that the remains found entombed in concrete and buried under a shed at the Elkridge home the couple shared could be used as evidence.

Jarrett reported his wife missing in 1991. According to police, Jarret reported that he and his wife were arguing and that she left and didn't return.

Neighbors told Patch that for 21 years, they suspected that Christine Jarrett was buried in the yard where .

"" one resident said, referring to the tool shed in the Jarretts' backyard where Christine Jarrett's remains were found.

Although jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday, State's Attorney's spokesperson Wayne Kirwan said the process will likely carry over to Wed., April 10, which is when prosecutors and defense attorney's will make their opening statements.
