Man Breaks Truck Window, Kicks Door: Howard County Crime Reports

Elkridge

Assault, Attempted Break-in

Officers responded to a domestic violence call to learn a woman’s husband was intoxicated and attempting to leave in their truck. In an attempt to enter the truck, the man had broken a window on the vehicle. In addition, a neighbor nearby the scene, in the 8500 block of Tufts Drive, said the man had attempted to enter his residence by kicking down the front door. The man was arrested and charged with burglary and second-degree assault at 10 p.m. on April 4.

Residential Burglary

Flat screen TVs, a safe, and various video game systems were stolen from a residence in the 8000 block of Keeton Road sometime around midnight on April 5. Police reported entry was gained through an unlocked rear door.

Ellicott City

Armed Robbery – Sonesta Hotel

A man entered the Sonseta Hotel in the 8800 block of Columbia Parkway and pointed a gun at an employee while demanding money around 5 a.m. on April 4. The employee complied, and then the man demanded a safe be opened. At that point, a second employee walked in, unaware of the robbery in progress. The armed man took property from one of the employees and then fled the scene.

Man Found Hiding Inside Home

A 23-year-old Severn man was found hiding inside a laundry hamper by a family member of the homeowner after the homeowner had moved out earlier in the day. The man attempted to flee, but the family member was able to keep him inside the home in the 4300 block of Centennial Lane until police arrived and arrested the man at 4:30 p.m. on April 6.

Residential Burglary

Someone forced open a rear basement window at a residence in the 3600 block of Rogers Ave. and stole a television sometime during the day on April 4.

Residential Burglary

Jewelry and cash was stolen from a residence in the 3100 block of West Springs Drive during the day on April 5. Police reported there were no signs of forced entry.

Columbia

Residential Burglary

Someone broke into a residence in the 10300 block of Swiftstream Place through an open rear slider and stole two videogames and three pieces of luggage in the evening on April 4.

Door Frame Shattered

A door frame was shattered and a deadbolt defeated, according to police, after someone damaged a rear basement door in the 9800 block of Owen Brown Road sometime between March 21 and April 6. Nothing was stolen. The incident was later reported to the police.

Jessup

Vandalism – Apna Bazaar

An unknown object was used to break the front glass door of Apna Bazaar sometime overnight on April 7, but nothing was reported stolen.
