Elkridge Man Charged with DUI After Hitting Marshalee Drive Sign

The following information was provided by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Police searched for the driver of a truck who left the scene of a crash in Elkridge Thursday night.

At 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 5, police were called to Gatepost Way in Elkridge, where a truck had crashed into a sign, said police. A witness told officials that the driver was the only person in the vehicle, and that he took off after the crash. 

“Officers set up a perimeter and utilized K9 and the helicopter to successfully locate the suspect in a nearby wooded area attempting to hide,” said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for Howard County Police Department, in an email to Elkridge Patch.

Schroen said that the 35-year-old Elkridge man was charged with DUI, fleeing the scene of an accident and eluding police; he was released on Friday after posting bond, according to Schroen.

A Howard High School concession stand was broken into between 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 5. Police said that nothing was reported stolen.
