Motorcycle Driver Hit by Truck in Elkridge

Police do not believe the truck driver was at fault.

An Elkridge man was taken to Shock Trauma after his motorcycle collided with a truck according to Howard County Police.

According to a statement released by police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn, officers were called to Route 1 at Old Washington Road at about 8:22 a.m.

When they arrived, police found Tusharkumar Patel, 23, of Elkridge. Police believe Patel was driving his 2013 Yamaha R1 motorcycle southbound on Route 1 at Old Washington Road when he swerved to avoid a vehicle, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off the bike.

A passing truck then hit Patel, according to police. Witnesses told police that the truck driver did not stop, but police do not think believe that the truck driver was at fault or knew that he or she hit Patel.

Part of the road was closed for about an hour while the police Traffic Enforcement Section investigated.
