New Year's Eve Burglary in Elkridge: Howard County Crime Reports

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge

Residential Burglary - Pirch Way

A 21-year-old Hanover man was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary after a laptop was stolen from a residence near the 6600 block of Pirch Way overnight on New Year's Eve.

Columbia

Armed Robbery - Thunderhill Road

A man's iPhone was stolen after a buyer the man had arranged a meeting with through Facebook to sell the phone displayed a handgun and walked off with phone around 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 near the 5800 block of Thunderhill Road.

Armed Robbery - Harpers Farm Road/ Turnabout Lane

Three men approached a man near the intersection of Harpers Farm Road and Turnabout Lane. Two of them displayed knives while a third stole the man's wallet and keys around 10:50 p.m on Dec. 27.

Police provided the following descriptions of the suspects:

  • Suspect 1: Black male; about 22 years old with a thin build, 6 feet tall who has a goatee and mustache; short hair cut; wearing a black jacket with a hood, blue jeans, and possessed a folding knife.
  • Suspect 2: Black male; about 22 years old, 5’9” to 5’10”, clean shaven with cornrows in his hair; wearing a puffy beige jacket and blue jeans, and possessed a folding knife.
  • Suspect 3: Black male; about 35 years old, heavy set, wearing a black jacket with a hood.

Possible Attempted Breaking and Entering - Cross Fox Lane

Two men, both wearing blue jackets, were heard by a resident banging on his door and possibly using a tool to gain access. The resident observed the men through the peephole on his door and asked them what they were doing. The men told the resident they were with a company, but did not provide the name, and were told to gain entry to the resident's unit near the 10500 block of Cross Fox Lane. After that, the two men took their tools and left around 10 a.m. on Dec. 29.

Commercial Burglary - LA Boxing

An unknown person or persons smashed a front window of LA Boxing in Dobbin Center and stole cash, Groupons and two checks on Dec. 31.

Residential Breaking and Entering - Windmill Lane

Three bedrooms were ransacked at a residence near the 5200 block of Windmill Lane around 7 p.m. on Dec. 28. It was unknown if anything was taken, although the alarm went off. Police reported entry may have been gained through an unsecured rear window.

Residential Burglary - Mystic Court

A rear slider was pried open by an unknown person or persons and the master bedroom was ransacked at a residence near the 5400 block of Mystic Court. A laptop computer, a purse, and jewelry were stolen from the residence between 2:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 30.

 

Fulton

Assault - Looney's Pub

Approximately eight to 10 people assaulted a man, leaving him unconscious during a fight outside Looney's Pub near the 8100 block of Maple Lawn Blvd. The victim was reportedly leaving the bar in his car around 2 a.m. after a brief altercation with a man, when the man pulled him out of his vehicle where he was assualted by the group. During the fight, the victim's wallet, car keys and vehicle were stolen, although the car was brought back. The group of men escaped in two cars before police arrived, but one man was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, carjacking, two counts of theft, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unauthorized removal of property.

Jessup

Residential Burglary - Cheshire Court

A bottle of vodka, a watch, a flat screen TV and two computers were stolen from a residence near the 8600 block of Cheshire Ct. Police reported an unknown person or persons smashed a rear kitchen window to enter and then ransacked two upstairs bedrooms sometime between Dec. 27 and Dec. 30.

Commerical Burglary - Hansen Concrete

After cutting the chains on a gate to gain entry, an unknown person or persons entered two buildings at Hansen Concrete near the 7900 block of Dorsey Run Rd. Inside the buildings, windows were smashed, snack machines looted and change, radios and a battery charger were stolen sometime between Dec. 28 and Dec. 31.

Commercial Burglary - Total Car Care

A second business was also burglarized near the 7900 block of Dorsey Run Rd. between Dec. 28 and Dec. 31. An unknown person or persons smashed a garage door bay window to gain entry and stole wrenches and a chainsaw at Total Car Care.

Suspicious Activity - Crazy Ray's

Two people were observed running from Crazy Ray's junkyard near the 8100 block of Washington Blvd. around 1 a.m. on Jan. 1. Responding officers recovered a bag of tools where the individuals were first spotted.

Ellicott City

Church Burglary - Frederick Road

The donation jar was stolen and a filing cabinet was ransacked after an unknown person or persons broke into Full Gospel Baptist Church on Frederick Road through a small unlocked window around 10 a.m. on Dec. 28.

Residential Burglary - Macalpine Road

A pillow case, jewelry box and a cigar box were reported stolen from a residence near the 3600 block of Macalpine Rd. after an unknown person broke in by forcing a window open.

Residential Vandalism/ Burglary - Oak Green Circle

An apartment near the 3000 block of Oak Green Circle was trashed and damaged after the resident's daughter left the key to the apartment with a friend during a vacation from Dec. 2 to Dec. 30. The friend reportedly passed the key around and that several groups had been seen entering the apartment. A laptop and keys to a Honda Civic were reported missing.

Savage-Guilford

Residential Burglary - Pine Tree Road

Tools, equipment and home items were reported stolen from a residence undergoing renovation near the 8600 block of Pine Tree Road between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Dec. 25.

Countywide Vehicle Thefts

A 1999 Ford truck was reported stolen near the 10600 block of Riggs Hill Rd. on Dec. 31 around 8 a.m.

A moped was reported stolen from the 7600 block of Murray Hill Rd. on Dec. 28.

A 2006 silver Toyota Corrolla was reported stolen near the 3400 block of Plumtree Dr. on Dec. 28.

A 2007 dark blue and black Suzuki GSXR 750 was reported stolen near the 5000 block of Walking Stick Rd. on Dec. 28.
