News Reports: Slain Phylicia Barnes May Have Been Child Porn Victim

The FBI is said to be investigating a connection between the 16-year-old honor student and Baltimore men.

The FBI is investigating whether slain teenager Phylicia Barnes, whose body was discovered in the Susquehanna River in Harford County in April, may have been a victim of child pornographers in Baltimore, ABC News reported.

Federal investigators were seeking access to Barnes’ accounts on e-mail and Facebook as well as the accounts of four Baltimore men, according to a report from ABC News affiliate WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C.

Barnes, 16, was an honor student from Monroe, N.C., and was visiting her half-sister in Baltimore when she was missing three days after Christmas.

In April, rescue teams from across the state converged on for Barnes in Howard and Baltimore Counties.

An autopsy ruled her death a homicide but few other details have been released.

The Charlotte Observer reported that law enforcement officials were pursuing warrants they believed would lead to evidence of child sex crimes or pornography.
