Police identified the victim killed in Dayton Friday and the man charged in his murder, both of whom officials say are from Prince George's County.
Rodolfo Miguel Cervantes, 31, of Hyattsville, was found dead in an outbuilding in the 4900 block of Ten Oaks Road when police responded to a report of shots fired at 3 p.m. Friday, according to the Howard County Police Department.
A witness provided a description of the suspect vehicle, police said, and officers found a vehicle matching the description in the area.
The driver, Ismael Guerra-Vasquez, 36, of Hyattsville, has been charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony, police said.
Based on preliminary investigation, police said that the two men, who were acquaintances, got into a brief confrontation before Guerra-Vasquez killed Cervantes.
Guerra-Vasquez is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center, according to police.
