A Lincoln Town Car traveling eastward on Baltimore National Pike Saturday around 6:30 p.m. was going the wrong direction in the west bound lanes and struck a Toyota Camry head-on, killing the driver of the Lincoln, Howard County police say.
The collision occurred just east of Marriottsville Road, according to Pfc. Brian Tanhauser of the Traffic Enforcement Section in a news release.
"A 2000 Lincoln Town Car was traveling east bound Baltimore National Pike in the west bound lanes," according to the statement. "A 2013 Toyota Camry was traveling west bound Baltimore National Pike and was struck head-on by the Lincoln Town Car."
The driver of the Lincoln was transported to Howard County General Hospital, were he was pronounced dead, police said. He was not identified, pending notification of next of kin.
The 46-year-old driver of the Toyota, a Sykesville resident, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in stable condition.
Westbound Baltimore National Pike
was closed for about two hours Saturday night during an investigation.
