Police: Man Carjacked, Kidnapped and Robbed in Howard County

Two men, one armed with a handgun, kidnapped a man, took him to an ATM and used his debit card to steal cash after carjacking him, according to police.

A man driving on Broken Land Parkway near Stevens Forest Road in Columbia was carjacked, kidnapped and taken to an ATM where two armed robbers withdrew a significant amount of the man's money early Friday morning, according to police.

The man was driving on Broken Land Parkway around 1:30 a.m., about to turn into the Exxon gas station, when an unknown man knocked on the car's window. The motorist unlocked the door to the vehicle, after which the unknown man opened the door, displayed a handgun and told the driver to move to the passenger seat, said police.

The driver then attempted to escape the vehicle through the passenger-side door, but was stopped by a second man. The man with the gun then hit the driver with his handgun, injuring the side of his face, said police.
