Police Report: Dec. 11-17

7-Eleven robbed, holiday shopper held at knifepoint and other incidents reported by Howard County Police.

Robberies and snow-related collisions kept officers busy over the past few days. However, the following is a partial report of happenings in greater Elkridge, as we are awaiting additional information from Howard County Police.

Friday, Dec. 17

  • 1:28 a.m.—Armed robbery at 7-Eleven; 6510 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge. Suspect approached employee, displayed gun and demanded cash. The employee complied, then the suspect fled on foot. The suspect is described as a thin white male, approximately 5' 5". He was wearing a dark ski mask, black zip-up hooded sweatshirt and light blue baggy jeans with designs printed on them.

Thursday, Dec. 16

  • 7:16 a.m.–Pedestrian struck; Old Dobbin Road and Tamar Drive, Columbia. . No injuries reported.
  • 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m.–Howard County Police received 158 reports of vehicle collisions due to weather. None resulted in serious injuries.
  • 1:32 p.m.—School bus accident with minor injuries to driver; 7000 block of Pindell School Road, Fulton. Bus was struck from behind, slid into guardrail.

Wednesday, Dec. 15

  • 1:22 p.m.—Armed robbery at parking garage; 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. outside Lord & Taylor.

Around the holidays, it isn't uncommon for crime to spike. Howard County Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen advises citizens to shop in groups and shop during the daytime. She also recommends parking in well-lit areas and making sure to have a hand free of packages.
