Copper Wire Theft Investigation Leads to 2 Arrests

Detectives in Howard County said they watched the pair take copper tubing and spools of copper wiring from a business in Anne Arundel County.

Police arrested two suspects after a copper wire theft Thursday night from a business in Linthicum.

Anne Arundel County Police worked with detectives from the Howard County Police Department, who had been tracking a series of copper wire thefts in their district.

Their search led them to a white Jeep, occupied by two people, at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Detectives said they watched the pair take copper tubing and spools of copper wiring from a business on Nursery Road in Linthicum and load it into their vehicle.

Dennis Charles Asmussen Jr., 40, of no fixed address; and Heather Nicole Sewell-Hutson, 25, of Baltimore Street in Savage, were arrested and charged with theft, second- and fourth-degree burglary, trespassing and destruction of property, according to online court records.
