Two Assaulted in Port Capital

The victims were followed from a bar, said police.

Two people were followed and assaulted Friday morning on the 7100 block of Beverly Drive, said police.

"It appears the suspects may have followed the victims home from a restaurant/bar," said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for the Howard County Police Department (HCPD). The assault, which occurred in the community, was reported at 2:36 a.m.

"It is unclear if the intent was motivated by robbery or if there was a dispute," said Schroen.

According to HCPD, nothing was reported stolen. Information regarding whether anyone was injured was unavailable, police said.

The incident was not a common one for this area, said Schroen.

"Follow-home robberies are very rare in Howard County and more often occur when a person owns/operates a business and brings cash home at closing time," she said. "Typically, these are not random acts, and the victims are targeted by a suspect who has knowledge of the closing/cash deposit procedures."

Police said the suspects were described as two black males wearing dark clothing and ski masks.
