Robert Jarrett Faces 30 Years for Murder
The former Elkridge resident's sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8.
A man convicted of murdering his wife—whose remains were found buried beneath a shed on their property—is scheduled for sentencing Thursday.
In April, a jury found Robert A. Jarrett, Sr. guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Christine A. Jarrett. Her body was recovered in April 2012; 21 years after Robert Jarrett reported her missing.
According to charging documents, Jarrett, who lived with Christine Jarrett in Elkridge at the time of her death, told police that his wife left after a dispute over money.

At the time, a detective on the case said that he thought she had run away.
Prosecutors had sought a first-degree murder charge, but during deliberations, jurors concluded that the murder was not pre-meditated, leading to the lesser, second-degree conviction, according to reports at the time.

Prosecutors said they will seek a 30-year prison sentence for Jarrett the maximum allowed under the law.
