Thieves Break into Route 1 Businesses Using Garden Hose, Box Truck

Police said three break-ins were reported in Elkridge since Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Mayfield Residential Break-In

Electronics and camera equipment were stolen from a residence on the 8000 block of Green Tree Court in Elkridge, according to police.

Police said the break-in occurred through a rear basement window sometime between 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, and 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Stealthy Subway Vandal

At 2:16 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, police responding to a business alarm at on Route 1 found that a laptop, flashlight and screwdriver were stolen from the manager's office.

Police said the the suspect took a garden hose from behind the restaurant and tied it to the roof, removed a vent and climbed down the hose into the Subway to gain access.

Then the suspect used the screwdriver to try to open a safe mounted to the floor, according to police.

Officials found the restaurant's side door open and an outer wall "bust[ed] out" on their arrival, according to the report. Preliminary information from police indicates there has not been an arrest.

Chainsaw, Car Stereo Stolen from Auto Business

A chainsaw and car stereo were stolen from overnight last week, according to police.

Officials said that the break-in occurred through a rear window that the suspect accessed by climbing onto a box truck.

In one of the offices inside, the suspect opened a safe that turned out to be empty, said police. In a second office, the suspect pried a keypad off another safe, which was on the floor, but didn't get in, according to police.

The break-in occurred between 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, and 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23.
