Tennis Ball Bomb Left Near Perry Hall Mailbox

No one was injured when the device exploded near a mailbox on Fox Hill Road in the Perry Hall Manor neighborhood.

Police say they are still investigating a destructive device made out of a tennis ball and left near a Perry Hall Manor mailbox.

Between 8 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 30, in the 9800 block of Fox Hill Road, a homeowner saw someone pull up to his mailbox on a motorcycle. Moments later, he saw a small explosion, according to Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct. Baltimore County police bomb squad investigators responded and found a tennis ball with aluminium foil and a chemical, Dorsey said.

No one was injured and no serious damage to the area was reported, Dorsey said.

The investigation into the device is ongoing, he said, and it is unknown if the home was specifically targeted.

Multiple bottle bomb incidents have been reported in the Perry Hall area in recent years.

Dorsey urged anyone who sees what they believe may be a destructive device, created using a ball, bottle or other container, to report the object by calling 911 immediately.

Completely agree PHP re: the sick person. I was just floored when I saw this, like..."Really?" That was what spawned my initial comment. I don't know if I'd go as far as 'domestic terroism' but this kid should be slapped- HARD by the judicial system. Not hard enough to ruin their lives, but hard enough to (hopefully) put them back on the right path.
