Two to Shock Trauma after Route 108 Crash

Police said Chevy Aveo collided head-on with GMC Yukon Thursday afternoon in Highland.

A collision near the intersection of Clarksville Pike and Briaridge Court in Highland sent two people to shock trauma Thursday afternoon, according to the Howard County Police Department (HCPD).

At approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo crossed the double yellow lines on Clarksville Pike (Route 108) and collided head-on with a 1999 GMC Yukon, according to a statement from HCPD.

Preliminary investigation indicated the primary cause of the Aug. 9 collision was the Chevrolet driver's "failure to drive right of center," said police.

Both drivers were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by helicopter and were listed in stable condition as of Thursday night, according to HCPD. There were no other occupants in the vehicles, said police.
