Woman Arrested After Train, SUV Collide in Jessup

Howard County police took a woman into custody Thursday afternoon for driving without a license after her Ford Explorer hit a train on Tar Bay Drive.

A woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after her SUV crashed into a cargo train in Jessup, according to Howard County police.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Ford Explorer was crossing the train tracks on Tar Bay Drive near Oceano Avenue in Jessup, when a train struck the vehicle.

“The train was coming at a slow rate of speed, and she [the driver of the Explorer] was traveling at a slow rate of speed; that’s why nobody was injured,” said Sherry Llewellyn, spokeswoman for the Howard County Police Department.
