Former Elkridge Resident Wanted by Feds

Austin Roberts, 35, is a fugitive who authorities said is of "kingpin" status.

U.S. Marshals are hunting for a former Elkridge resident connected to an illegal drug-running operation on the East Coast, according to the Washington Examiner.

Austin Roberts, 35, was described as a "drug kingpin" and weight lifter who has a gold tooth and tattoo on his left arm, said the Examiner. He is said to be African-American, 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds.

The fugitive's addresses have included Salisbury, Washington, D.C., and Elkridge, according to authorities.

“He had lived at one time in the 7700 block of Valley Oak Drive in Elkridge,” said Matt Burke, supervisory inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service, in a phone interview.

“He still has family in the area but we can’t provide information on that,” said Burke, who also couldn’t say when Roberts lived in Elkridge.

Burke is a member of the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Task Force, a group that works across jurisdictions and state lines to apprehend what it says are “the most dangerous fugitives.”

Roberts fits the bill, according to Burke.

“He’s got extensive criminal history of drugs and weapons and violence,” said Burke.

Court records indicate that Roberts was indicted on charges related to an international cocaine distribution operation before he was a teenager.

Authorities began looking for Roberts recently after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Salisbury in June, said Burke, followed by another warrant from the DEA in connection with conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

“Their charge indicates ‘kingpin’ status, and that indicates that he’s dealing in large quantities,” said Burke.

Burke said authorities were on the lookout now “to generate some more leads.”

Roberts "could be living under an alias name and someone may recognize him,” said Burke.

Anyone with information about Roberts should call the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force local office at 301-489-1705.
