PHOTOS: Republican Rally at Rockburn Branch Park

Three candidates spoke at the Elkridge park on Sunday, Sept. 16.

Approximately 50 people attended a political rally at Rockburn Branch Park Sunday afternoon, "despite being bracketed by the Ravens and Redskins games on TV," said O.P. Ditch of Elkridge.

Ditch is vice president of the Howard County Republican Club, which cosponsored the rally with the Howard County Republican Women.

"We were very pleased to have two State Senators, Allan Kittleman and Nancy Jacobs, attending, as well as the Republican National Committeeman from Maryland, Louis Pope," said Ditch.

The following candidates spoke at the event, according to Ditch:

  • Sen. Nancy Jacobs, running for Congress in District 2, which includes precincts in eastern Howard County
  • Frank Mirabile, running for Congress in District 7, covering most of north and western Howard County
  • Robert Ballinger, running for Howard County Board of Education

Tony Campbell, a member of Marylanders for Coherent and Fair Representation, also spoke to the group. Ditch said that Campbell touched on the three issues that are the subject of referenda: in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants, Congressional redistricting and same-sex marriage.

Ditch said that Campbell's organization recommended voting against all three issues to overturn the laws.
