Can you get a parking ticket on Memorial Day? Yep.

An announcement from the Howard County Government: 

Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter and the landfill will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 30. That includes the and all other arms of the Howard County Library.

There will be no trash, recycling or yard waste collection on Monday; instead, based on the county’s sliding schedule, trash, recycling and yard waste (for those scheduled for yard waste collection) will “slide” to Tuesday, May 31. Tuesday collections will “slide” to Wednesday; Wednesday collections will “slide” to Thursday, and so on through the remainder of the week.

Howard Transit will not operate on Memorial Day; for more information on Howard Transit, call 1-800-270-9553.

Mail will not be delivered through the U.S. Postal Service and UPS, both of which are closed for the holiday.

All parking regulations and fees will be in effect. The 9-1-1 Center, police and fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1; for non-emergencies, please call 410-313-2200. 

County offices will re-open for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 31.
