Ducketts Lane Elementary to Include Outdoor Classrooms, Gym With Natural Light and More

The new Ducketts Lane principal shared details of the school's interior and exterior in a recent email to parents.

Principal Heidi Balter shared the following details on the building in an email to parents this week:

  • Building will have two levels. Grades four and five will have classrooms on the second floor.
  • The second level will feature an area where various plants will grow in an atrium type setting, and the gym and cafeteria (located on the first floor) can be seen through a glass-type opening.
  • Skylights and walkways are located throughout the building.
  • Grounds will include a pond, plants, outdoor classrooms and an amphitheater.
  • Gym will have lots of natural light.
  • There will be three playgrounds.
  • Each grade level will have a mural with a native animal, and information about each animal can be found on the mural.
  • Areas in the school can be used as teaching tools.
