Howard Public Schools Closed, Wind Chill Advisory in Effect

Students have the day off as bitter cold temperatures sweep across the region Friday morning.


Howard County Public Schools announced all schools will be closed on Friday as a snow storm hit the area Thursday night and arctic winds begin to sweep into the region.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory until noon on Friday. The weather service predicts a below zero wind chill with gusts reaching as high as 40 mph Friday morning with sustained winds around 20 mph.

All evening activities in schools, both school-sponsored and community-sponsored, are also canceled including high school athletic practices and games.

Temperatures are expected to be in the teens or low twenties Friday.
