I hope they have a good turnout. Very few of the candidates have really made themselves available to the public. Mrs. Kornreich has been out here for at least the past 2 years speaking about the issues especially the problems in Elkridge and the route 1 corridor. Mr. Andrews is another who has been out here for about 2 years discussing the issues. Mr. Dyer has always stressed transparency and inclusion, this man has stood for our children when few others would. Ms. De Lacy and Mr. Ballinger are two others who are willing to talk to the public from the floor. There are a lot of issues. Overcrowding, the lack of schools in this area and the use of new schools to allow even more building. There are huge disparities in our schools and there is evidence school scores are being manipulated. Actually half of our graduates need remedial ed and the majority will drop out of college. Poor curriculum and teaching to the test have brought education to it's knees even here in Howard county where our great schools are a charade to draw wealth into the county. The list of issues is long and the recent exclusion of the public and bungling of the superintendent search was probably the last straw for many of us.

There is one question I am going to ask publicly and repeatedly. Ms. Scott durring Ullman's failed attempt to strip our right to choose our BOE was silent. The public needs to know where she stands on elected vs. appointed? Ms. Scott can not have it both ways, to hope for an appointment with an election as second choice.

Thanks, Leslie. We linked to our calendar, which had more information about the event, but have now added the location so that it's within the body of the article. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Richard. Hope to see you there!

Elizabeth Janney - are you related to Peter Janney, author of the new book, "Mary's Mosaic: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision of World Peace"?
