Elkridge Company Forecasts Baltimore Marathon Attendance

Corrigan Sports, headquartered on Santa Barbara Court, told newspaper it anticipates a record-breaking year.

The Baltimore Running Festival is on track to have a record number of participants, Corrigan Sports told the Baltimore Business Journal.

The Elkridge-based company that organizes the event anticipates 26,000 to 27,000 entrants in the marathon, compared with 25,000 last year, according to the Baltimore Business Journal's report.

When Lee Corrigan, president of , founded the marathon 12 years ago, there were 6,000 runners, reports The Baltimore Sun.

Last year's race course charted new territory—the Baltimore Zoo. On Thursday, Aug. 9, the Baltimore Running Festival announced on its Facebook page that this year's courses will remain the same as last year's, including the zoo portion.

The Baltimore Running Festival is Oct. 13. It includes a half marathon, full marathon, 5K, fun run and team relay. See course maps and more information about the Baltimore Running Festival.
