Lightning Flash 5K and Mommy Trot

The Long Reach High School field hockey team is hosting a the Lightning Flask 5K run/walk and  “Mommy Trot”  on Saturday, Sept. 8. The events will start and end on the school’s track, where the girls field hockey players will guide participants. 

There is a $15 registration fee for participants in the 5K run/walk, which begins at 9:30 a.m.  Those who register by Aug. 31, pay the early bird fee of $10.  The top 3 male finishers and top 3 female finishers will receive a prize.  Prizes include gift cards and gift baskets.

The “Mommy Trot” is designed for parents and their children five years and under to do together.  It begins at 9 a.m. Participants will complete one lap of the track, and all will receive a prize.  There is no registration fee required.

A post-race celebration will be held at Eggspectations Restaurant in Ellicott City, starting at 11 a.m. and running until 7 p.m. 

Proceeds from the race and Eggspectations sales and other donations will benefit Grassroots, Howard County’s only homeless shelter and crisis intervention center.  Eggspectations is located at 6010 University Boulevard, Ellicott City.
