Elkridge to Hit Triple Digits Saturday

Air quality alert, excessive heat warning are in effect.

A heat wave is on the way.

That’s right, on the way. It’s going to get hotter.

Saturday will be sunny, with an actual high temperature of 103 degrees in Elkridge. With the humidity, expect it to feel more like 111 degrees. Saturday night, temperatures will drop to about 77 degrees.

Sunday the high is 97 degrees, but it will feel like 103. There's a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms, and temperatures will drop to 69 degrees at night.

Heat Advisory

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Hot temperatures and high humidity will create what officials called a "dangerous situation" with risk of heat exhaustion and heat-related illness running high. If you experience symptoms of heat-related illness—extreme weakness, muscle cramps, nausea, headache, vomiting, fainting, dry red skin, convulsions, disorientation or delirium—call 911.

Air Quality Alert

The Maryland Department of the Environment issued a "code red" air quality alert for Saturday, July 7. That means ozone levels will be hazardous in the Baltimore-Washington area for older adults, children and people with asthma or heart conditions. Officials encourage everyone to avoid outdoor physical exertion Saturday.
