Weekend Happenings in Greater Elkridge

Here are some Howard County events.


  • Jane Austen Weekend
    Where: Patapsco Female Institute (3691 Sarah's Ln.) in Ellicott City
    When: 8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23; and 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 24
    Why to go: See the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s production of Pride and Prejudice.
    Pricing:  $15-$36; children 18 and under are free with paying adult
  • Where: in Elkridge
    When: 7–10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23
    Why Go: Get a free t-shirt for participating in the walk/run.
    Pricing: $20 to register; $10 for kids under 15 years old
  • Elkridge Day
    Where: Brumbaugh House (5825 Main St.) in Elkridge
    When: 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23
    Why Go: Learn about Elkridge history; tour the office of Dr. Brumbaugh, formerly the town doctor; and play games.

  • A Literary Reading
    Where: Oliver's Carriage House (5410 Leaf Treader Way) in Columbia
    When: 2–4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23
    Why Go: Poets and prose writers read their work as the Little Patuxent Review celebrates its Audacity-themed summer issue. Reception to follow.

  • Beer & Fear
    Where: Terrapin Adventures (8600 Foundry St.) in Savage
    When: 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 24
    Why Go: Spend two hours taking the Terrapin Challenge. Then reward yourself with a mouth-watering choice of six entrees paired with hearty samples of six different Rams Head Tavern beers or wine.
