Heat Advisory Wednesday: What You Need To Know

Dangerous temperatures are expected across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Take precautions if you must spend much time outdoors today — a forecast of hot temperatures has led the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory this afternoon.

The heat advisory for the region will last from noon until 7 p.m. See the forecast here.

Temperatures will climb to the upper 90s, with heat index values up to 105 degrees for most of the advisory period. This will increase the risk of heat-related illness in areas without air conditioning or outdoors.

In Howard County, people who need to cool off should hit any of the Howard County Library System branches or a Howard County senior center.

The National Weather Service encourages residents in the area to take extra precautions when outside:

  • Reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or into the evening.
  • Wear light weight or loose-fitting clothes.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Schedule frequent rest breaks in shade or air conditioning during outside work.
