Halloween Events3-Mile Haunted Hay Ride - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 7 p.m. start
The Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum (12985 Maryland 144, West Friendship) has set up a 40-minute hayride through the grounds of the museum that features costumed actors, old farm buildings and more. Rides begin at 7 p.m. and the last hayride leaves at 9:45 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and proceeds benefit the museum.
Rockburn Haunted Experience - Saturday, Oct. 16 - 6:30 p.m. start
The 21st annual Rockburn Haunted experience spooks riders with a haunted hay ride and spine-tingling ghostly dwelling deep in the woods. Hayrides begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. on Saturday, the cost is $10 per person and the event is for ages 7 & up. The ride starts at Rockburn Branch Park West (6145 Montgomery Road, Elkridge).
The Happy Haunted Hayride - Sunday, Oct. 27 - 2 to 4 p.m.
Looking for a Halloween event that won't scare the little kids? The Happy Haunted Hayride at Rockburn Branch Park (6145 Montgomery Road) is exactly that. The hayride takes kids ages 2 to 7 around the trails of the park. The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and the cost is $5 per person.
The Haunted Barn at Glenelg Country School - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Glenelg Country School hosts the haunted barn, a "fright-filled attraction" that winds through a "turn-of-the-century barn that includes creepy clowns, butches, spider webs, roaming creepy characters and a graveyard maze. Admission is $6 per person and is recommended for ages 13+. The event takes place at 12793 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City. The barn itself is located at the back of the school's campus.
Ghost Hike and Campfire at Benjamin Banneker Park - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 6:30 p.m.
Enjoy ghost stories, a nighttime hike and a campfire at Benajamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum in Oella (300 Oella Avenue, Ellicott City). Cost is $5 per person for adults and children 8+. Registration is required, call 410-887-1081 to register.
Boo Bash at Columbia Gym - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 10 a.m.
Boo Bash at the Columbia gym will feature face painting, a costume contest, creep crafts and games. The morning event takes place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Columbia Gym (6151 Daylong Lane, Clarksville). Tickets are $12 for Columbia Association card holders and $14 for non CA members.
Long Reach Community Halloween Party - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 1 p.m.
Long Reach's Halloween party at The Stonehouse (8775 Cloudleap Court, Columbia) features a magician, pumpkin deocrating, and a costume party. The event is free and geared toward children 10 and under.
Trick or Treat Among the Trees - Saturday, Oct. 26 - 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Robison Nature Center in Columbia (6692 Cedar Lane) is hosting families to trick or treat along an adventure trail at the center. The treats are from David's Natural Markets and are described as "wholesome and delicious". The cost is $7 for general admission and free for children under 3. The event is broken into different 1 1/2 hour sessions starting at 4 p.m. and leaving every 15 minutes. Register here.
Trunk or Treat at Christ Memorial Presbyterian - Sunday, Oct. 27 - 4 p.m.
Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbia (6410 Amherst Ave.) invites residents to come to the church's parking lot on Sunday for a free trunk or treat event. It's described as a safe alternative to trick or treating in which volunteers decorate the trunk of their cars and hand out candy to costumed kids.
