Dianna Lynn Marketti pleaded guilty shortly before her trial was set to begin this week at Howard County Circuit Court.
One of the two suspects charged with a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries across Howard County pleaded guilty this week in Howard County Circuit Court. Dianna Lynn Marketti, 31, who is listed at addresses in Glen Burnie and Dundalk, in court records pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree burglary on May 21. Marketti was described by police as the getaway driver in a series of burglaries that involved kicking in doors and stealing valuables from homes throughout Howard County in August and September of 2012. Joseph Leo Baumgarten, 40, of Pasadena, was also charged in the burglaries. Baumgarten is currently awaiting trial, according to online court records. Blogger Dennis Lane, whom police say was killed in a plot orchestrated by his 14-year-old daughter, was an involved parent whose goal was to help his daughter be more independent, according to court documents from a 2008 custody case. Morgan Arnold is being held on murder charges along with Jason Bulmer, Arnold's 19-year-old boyfriend, whom police say stabbed Dennis J. Lane to death inside his Ellicott City home on May 10. Lane was Arnold's father. Police said that for two months Arnold and Bulmer had been discussing killing Lane, a well-known blogger and real estate agent. Laurel Residential burglary A man on his way to the front door of a home on the 9200 block of Canterbury Riding on May 5 at about 11:30 p.m. was stopped by a man with his face covered who showed a gun and demanded money, according to police. The victim gave the robber his wallet; in it was cash and ATM cards. A resident of the 9100 block of Burbon Street saw a mattress move that he’d put up against his bedroom window. Elkridge Robbery A man coming from a check cashing business was being driven by an acquaintance when he was dropped off at his home. Shortly after, another vehicle pulled up and a passenger got out. The passenger and driver of the car assaulted the man and took his wallet, cell phone and keys, then drove off. The incident occurred in the 6700 block of Pirch Way around 5 p.m. on May 15. North Laurel Robbery Two men approached a woman. One displayed a gun and demanded the woman's vehicle. The woman told the men the vehicle was equipped with a Lo-Jack tracking device and then the men demanded her wallet and cell phone, which she gave them. Police released video and photos from a May 4 robbery in hopes of finding the robbers.
Howard County police are offering a reward for help identifying two men who robbed a liquor store. On May 4 just after 11 p.m., two employees were closing up shop at All Saints Liquors, on the 9100 block of All Saints Road in Laurel, when two masked men showed up with a handgun and demanded the employees lay on the floor, according to police. One of the robbers hit one of the employees in the head with the gun, according to police. Then the two robbers took all of the money from the registers and from a lock box. Police do not know how much money was stolen. Police have released this footage and two still pictures from the store's surveillance cameras. Elkridge Construction site burglary Two houses under construction on the 5900 block of Cypress Springs Road were burglarized around May 6, according to police. In one house, an HVAC cased-coil was broken but nothing was reported stolen. In the other house, copper wire was reported stolen. Police say there were no signs of force in either house. A 14-year-old girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend plotted the death of the girl's father, Howard County blogger Dennis Lane, as well as his significant other, charging documents in the case of Lane's slaying revealed Monday. Both Morgan Arnold, 14, and Jason Bulmer, 19, were held without bail after brief hearings over a closed circuit television system at Howard County District Court on Monday. According to police, on May 10 Bulmer stabbed Lane multiple times at the family home in a plan to kill Lane and his partner, Denise Geiger, and then flee to California. Howard County Fire and Rescue crews are on the scene of an overturned propane tanker. According to Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Jacqueline Cutler, crews responded to the call near Old Frederick Road and Twin Arch Road in Lisbon at about 10:15 a.m. Monday. “The driver has minor injuries and is being transported to Montgomery Hospital,” Cutler said. Initial reports indicate that the tanker is not leaking propane, according to Cutler.
