Anne Arundel County police are asking for help identifying a man seen in surveillance images on Aug. 15 at CR Jewelers at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover. According to police, the man distracted the store's attendants, stole jewelry and left the store. Anyone with information may contact Detective W.C. Sweeney of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155. After a battle to get a license for slots, The Cordish Cos. opened the Maryland Live! casino ahead of schedule. Are table games next?
David Cordish knew it was impossible to make money off of a casino unless you could first get the thing built. After winning a vote in 2010 to allow for a license to have slots near Arundel Mills, the Baltimore-based real estate developer started work quickly, and the first phase of Maryland Live! opened Wednesday. "It's an exciting night, and I am very proud of what we've done," said Cordish, the chairman and founder of The Cordish Cos. "The state of Maryland asked for a world-class facility, and we delivered." Time will tell whether Cordish's $500 million investment will pay off. It's finally here. After years of discussion and months of construction, the new Maryland Live! casino will open Wednesday night. Eventually, the casino will offer more than 4,000 slot and gaming machines, plus live entertainment and an array of restaurants and shops. For many people, Maryland Live! will be the place to be, as it offers one of the few places to gamble in the state. Other people won't go anywhere near the place. Love the picture. You have to ask "Would you buy a used car (or anything else) from this man?" The county executive did. And we still haven't heard from one official who can explain how a casino that was supposed to help Maryland's struggling horse industry ended up in Cordish's yard. He has ruined the lives of the folks living along Ridge and Severn Rds who were there well before Arundel Mills …   more ›
