Suspected Door Kick-in Burglars Held Without Bond

The two suspects in a string of door kick-in burglaries were arrested in Florida, after skipping a bail hearing in November.

  The man and woman suspected in a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries in Howard County have been arraigned in Circuit Court and are being held without bail. Joseph Leo Baumgarten, of Pasadena, and Dianna Lynn Marketti, who is listed in court documents at addresses in Dundalk and Glen Burnie, were extradited to Howard County last month after being arrested in Bay County, FL. The two were wanted by the Howard County's Sheriff's office for almost two months after skipping a bail hearing on Nov. 15. Baumgarten was arraigned in Howard County Circuit Court on Thursday, according to court records. He faces 25 charges in the string of burglaries in late September. Since nothing else has worked to prevent them from their life of crime, why not chop off their hands so they can't steal, and pluck out her eyeballs so she can't drive? Obviously, the above isn't the answer, but our current system of justice isn't working. Criminals commit crimes because it is easy-picking for them most of time, with little or no consequence. Daytime Door Kick-in Burglaries Cease; Investigation Continues

No new break-ins are believed to be related since police issued a warning last week.

  The investigation into a string of brazen daytime door kick-in burglaries in Howard County continues after police warned residents to be vigilant last week. Howard County Police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn wrote in an email that police have not apprehended a suspect and are unable to provide a suspect’s description at this time. She said the investigation is active. Since police released information related to the burglaries on Sept. 27, there hasn’t been a burglary with a similar style in Howard County, according to Llewellyn. The 10 break-ins believed to be connected happened over the course of three days from Sept. 24 – 26. Daytime Door Kick-In Burglaries Prompt Police Warning

A string of kick-in burglaries around Howard County have led police to ask residents to be vigilant.

  A string of daytime burglaries in Howard County in which doors have been kicked in has prompted the following police warnings: Use your dead bolt, hide your valuables in unexpected places and report any suspicious activity. The burglaries began on Monday, with seven daytime burglaries at residences in Ellicott City, Columbia and Clarksville, according to police, then continued with one in Elkridge on Tuesday, and two more on Wednesday in Ellicott City and Woodbine. The suspect is believed to first knock on the door of the home to determine if anyone is home, and then kick the door in to gain entry, according to police.
