Elkridge Charity 5K to Benefit Needy Children
Find out how participating in the event can benefit children in need.
About 200 runners are expected to descend on Rockburn Branch Park in Elkridge 9 a.m. April 20 to participate in a 5K that will benefit needy children. Do you have an Elkridge event you’d like to publicize in our events calendar? Submit it yourself by clicking here and then clicking on the “Add an Event” button the right. The event is put on by Project Promise, a non-profit organization founded in January 2011 by an Ellicott City couple dedicated to helping needy children, according to the organization’s website. Money raised from the event, which costs $20-$25 per runner, benefits needy children with challenges such as heart defects, neutropenia, epilepsy, and developmental delays, according to the Elkridge Patch event listing. Pole Dance Fitness Competition Coming to Elkridge Saturday
The fitness trend is different than stripping, participants say.
Students and instructors in pole dancing (not to be confused with stripping) will be coming to Elkridge Saturday to compete in a Tri-State Pole Dance Fitness Invitational. The event is held by Pole Pressure, a business that offers pole dancing classes throughout DC and surrounding areas. The Tri-State Pole Dance Fitness Invitational will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Howard County Sports Center, 6742 Dorsey Rd, Elkridge. Tickets to attend are $30 at the door, according to the Elkridge Patch events section.
