Thunderstorms in Elkridge's Forecast

The brunt of the severe weather is anticipated in late Thursday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of Maryland, including Howard County. Severe thunderstorms, which may produce strong winds and hail, could sweep through Elkridge and surrounding areas, Thursday afternoon and evening according to NWS. Storms are most likely from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Severe storms should wind down after sunset, according to the forecast discussion, but scattered storms are possible "well into the evening."

Temperatures Rising in Elkridge this Week

Here's a look at the week's forecast courtesy of the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will start out chilly this week, according to the National Weather Service, but a steady increase in temperatures will mean near-summer weather by the end of the week.  Temperatures will reach the high-50s Monday. Expect cloudy skies and sprinkles later in the afternoon. Monday night we’ll see more sprinkles and chilly temperatures in the high-30s.  Sunshine is in Tuesday’s forecast, and high temperatures in the mid-60s. Skies will become partly cloudy Tuesday night, and temperatures will drop to the high-40s. Expect highs in the low-70s Wednesday under partly sunny skies. Record-Setting Heat in Elkridge Today?

Temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees.

What happened to spring?  The National Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature of 88 degrees today and, according to the forecast discussion, it will really be closer to 90 in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area. If we do hit 90 degrees, the we'll set a new record. The hottest April 10 on record is 89 degrees in 1922, according to NWS. Along with the heat, in a hazardous weather outlook for Howard County, NWS warns of possible isolated thunderstorms in the area this afternoon and evening. The thunderstorms could bring fast winds and large hail, according to NWS, so be careful. Spring may return later this week as a "cold front" brings temperatures back down to the mid-60s.

Highs in the 60s, 70s, 80s in Elkridge This Week

If you put away your sweaters in a fit of spring-cleaning, you may want to dig one out, the National Weather Service is forecasting a nearly 30-degree spread between high temperatures this week. An umbrella, however, will be helpful all week long. Expect patchy fog Monday before 10 a.m., then there’s a 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon. Temperatures should reach the low-70s during the day, and drop to the high-50s at night. More fog is in Tuesday’s forecast before 9 a.m. After that, expect partly sunny skies with temperatures in the high-70s. Spring Comes to Elkridge: Weekend Weather

Fleeting rain showers, temperatures in the mid-to-high 50s … that sounds like spring. And according to the National Weather Service, that’s what we’ll see this weekend.  Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out our events section. Temperatures will reach the mid-50s today. There’s a 30 percent chance of scattered showers between 4 and 7 p.m. Temperatures will drop to the mid-30s at night. Get out Saturday – temperatures will be in the mid-50s with clear, sunny skies. There’s a little bit of everything in this weekend’s forecast – a hint of spring, a touch of winter, sun, rain and even snow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Skies should remains sunny today and temperatures will reach the mid-40s today, dropping to the high-20s at night.  Saturday looks mostly sunny with temperatures reaching the mid-50s, dropping to about 30 degrees at night.  There’s a 50 percent chance of rain Sunday afternoon, after 3 p.m. Otherwise skies should be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 40s. Snow, Sleet in Elkridge Friday Forecast

The National Weather Service reports that the wintry mix is slated to begin after noon.

Those planning to leave the office for lunch may want to stay indoors Friday. The National Weather Service predicts that rain and sleet are likely to start in Elkridge after noon. Snow and sleet accumulation are anticipated to be less than half an inch, with temperatures near 38, according to the weather agency. The rain and snow are expected to return after midnight, and a precipitation amount of less than a tenth of an inch is possible. Week Ahead in Elkridge Weather: We'll Wait for the Sun

Here's the week's forecast, courtesy of the National Weather Service.

We’re not in for an exciting week, weather-wise, according to the National Weather Service, but the clouds should lift in a few days, and we can expect sunny skies later in the week. Monday’s fog should lift by about 10 a.m., but skies will remain cloudy and there’s a good chance of rain. Temperatures should hit the mid-60s during the day, and drop to about 40 degrees at night.  Tuesday will be partly sunny, with temperatures reaching the high-40s during the day, dropping to about freezing at night. Wednesday looks the same, partly sunny skies with temperatures in the high-40s during the day and dropping to the low-30s at night.
