Hot off their Best New Artist win at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, Fun. recently announced a live performance July 20 at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The indie rock band from New York City also won the Song of the Year Grammy for their catchy hit "We Are Young." At the Grammys, Fun.'s Nate Ruess, 30, joked, "I don't know what I was thinking writing the chorus for this song. If this is in HD, everybody can see our faces, and we are not very young," as the band accepted the award for Song of the Year. Tickets for Fun. go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. on Ticketfly. Howard County Police will staff eight locations on Sept. 29 for National Drug Take Back Day.
Have any prescription medications from that surgery way back? Don't know what to do with those pills that have been sitting behind your mirror for years? Howard County police are helping residents anonymously dispose of unwanted and expired medications at eight locations on Saturday, as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Take Back Initiative. This is the fifth drop-off day conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration since 2010. In that time, nearly 4,300 law enforcement agencies have collected more than 773 tons of medication, according to a news release from the police department. >> In the last drop-off event, Howard County residents returned 513 pounds in prescription and non-prescription drugs. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Police and fire officials from Howard County will be holding a "laying of the wreath" ceremony on Tuesday morning at Centennial Park as a rememberance of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Alexandra Bresani, a spokesperson for the Howard County government, said the wreath laying would occur at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Garden of Hope at Centennial Park. 8:46 a.m. is the time of the first plane crash into the World Trade Center. This is the eleventh year since the attacks that brought down the World Trade Center.
