Elkridge Defense Company to Expand

The announcement came when Governor Martin O'Malley visited to talk about sequestration.

FLIR's vice president of operations Roger Wells announced recently that the company is set to expand its Elkridge location in a move that will double the company's current space. FLIR, which makes thermal imaging and infrared cameras for police and military uses as well as the private sector, will soon move across the street from its current location at 6610 Amberton Drive, said Wells. The announcement came as Governor Martin O'Malley and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman warned of the negative effects the looming sequester may have on local business such as FLIR. O’Malley Visits Elkridge to Warn of Effects of Sequestration

O'Malley said 12,000 jobs in the state could be lost.

  Governor Martin O’Malley said Wednesday in Elkridge that Congress’s inability to compromise on budget cuts has led to a situation where across the board cuts could slow Maryland’s economic growth.
