Teen Sentenced in Lawyers Hill Road Collision

Parents of two teenagers killed in a collision on Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge last year spoke a lot about forgiveness at a sentencing hearing for the 19-year-old who had been driving more than 70 mph at times on the hilly, windy road. Dale Kirk Audet of Linthicum pleaded guilty in September to two counts of criminal negligent manslaughter In statements made in Howard County Circuit Court Wednesday, the victims' parents talked about how they came to forgive - or were trying to forgive - Audet. Loved Ones Hold Vigil for Teen Killed in Lawyers Hill Crash

A vigil was held Saturday to remember Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, who died in a car crash in Elkridge Friday night.

Following a fatal crash Friday night in Elkridge, about 150 people gathered at North County High School in Glen Burnie on Saturday evening to remember Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, who graduated from the school in 2010, according to The Capital. Giles was one of two teens killed on Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge when the car they and three others were traveling in hit a tree, said Howard County police. Giles and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Another vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Community Church (HCC) in Severn for Deckman, according to the church's website. Two Teens Die in Crash on Lawyers Hill

Three others are at shock trauma, said police.

Two teens were killed Friday night when the car they and three others were traveling in hit a tree on Lawyers Hill Road, said police. Police said that the five teens from Anne Arundel County were in a 2008 Pontiac GT heading westbound on the 6200 block of Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge when the driver lost control, crossed the eastbound lane and struck a tree. A witness called to report the crash, said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for Howard County Police Department (HCPD). Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from HCPD.
