Powerball Jackpot Reaches Historic $600 Million

Did you buy a powerball ticket?

It's the largest Powerball jackpot in history: $600 million, according to a Maryland Lottery spokesperson. And it's the second-largest of all the multi-state lotteries; the larget being last year's Mega Millions jackpot, which hit $656 million, according to a statement from Maryland Lottery spokesperson Erica Palmisano. One of those Mega Millions winners was in Maryland. The jackpot has "rolled," 13 times - that is, there hasn't been a winning number in the past 13 drawings. Powerball Jackpot Increased to $500 Million Ahead of Wednesday Drawing

Maryland Lottery officials announced the increase Tuesday morning.

At $425 million, the jackpot for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing was already the largest in the game's history, but Tuesday morning, lottery officials announced that the prize pool had increased. Wednesday's drawing will now be for a $500 million jackpot with a $327 million cash option, according to statement from Maryland Lottery spokeswoman Erica Palmisano. The news comes after 15 straight Powerball drawings without a winner. Casinos Spend $26.7 Million on Both Sides of Gaming Referendum

Question 7 has casinos putting money down.

By Rachael Pacella, CAPITAL NEWS SERVICE The debate over expanding gaming in Maryland will ultimately be decided by the people, but to help them pick, casino companies on both sides have now contributed more than $26.7 million to campaigns for and against Question 7. Question 7, the gaming referendum, would expand gambling in Maryland by extending casino hours, adding table games and allowing an additional casino to be built at National Harbor in Prince George's County. I believe you may have confused the Mall in Washington D.C. with "National Harbor". The proposed site is in Maryland, down in PG county by the Wilson Bridge.   more ›
