Principal Evaluating Safety Procedures at Wilde Lake High

James LeMon said the school is continuing to improve safety procedures at the school after an alleged rape occurred inside the school on Monday.

The principal of Wilde Lake High School wrote in his second letter to parents in as many days that the school is evaluating safety procedures in the wake of an alleged rape reported at the school on Monday. "We will maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students at Wilde Lake High School with our continued vigilance and alertness," wrote Principal James LeMon. He said the school will monitor the 31 cameras placed around the school as well as continue to enforce the following regulations: In his letter he also thanked the school's community for their support after the incident. The real problem is that when there are after School activities it's free for all any and everybody can enter the school without being asked for I.d. where are the admin staff? Where are the teachers? Teen Killed by Frederick Sheriff's Deputies Serving Howard County Warrant

Deputies were serving a warrant related to a Jan. 8 home invasion in Mt. Airy, in western Howard County.

Frederick County sheriff's deputies shot and killed 19-year-old Daniel Vail on Thursday morning while serving a warrant related to a Howard County home invasion in Mt. Airy, according to a police account. The deputies were assisting Howard County Police who had issued a warrant for Vail, of Mt. Airy, who was suspected to be involved with a Jan. 8 home invasion in Mt. Airy. The Jan. 8 home invasion, which occurred in the Howard County portion of Mt. Airy, involved three masked men, armed with a baseball bat and a shotgun, who demanded money from two male victims at a residence near the 600 block of Long Corner Road, according to Howard County police. Board of Education Candidates to Square off in Second Forum on Thursday

Questions will center around overcrowding in schools.

  The Greater Elkridge Community Association (GECA) is scheduled to host the Board of Education candidates for a forum on Thursday in Elkridge that revolves around overcrowding in Howard County Public Schools. GECA wrote in an announcement for the forum that a redistricting plan to fill a new elementary school on Ducketts Lane in Elkridge to alleviate overcrowding is not a long-term solution. "Now is your chance to meet the Board of Education candidates, who we will elect in November, and ask them tough questions about how they plan to solve these problems," wrote GECA in the announcement.
