Elkridge Shop Prepares for Ravens Cupcake Sales Boom
The store is getting ready for a large order for Super Bowl 2013.
The boom in popularity of Ravens-themed cupcakes from an Elkridge bakery has grown this season and is expected to be at a high for Super Bowl parties next month, staff there said this week. This is the second year Kupcakes & Co, which opened in June of 2011 in Elkridge, has offered the Ravens-themed confections, and fans that had the cupcakes at game-viewing parties in the past tend to order them again, said baker Joanne Jrabowski. “I think people are superstitious, so I think people who have ordered them prior will order them again,” she said. For the AFC Championship, the store made 210 Ravens cupcakes, staff said; for the Super Bowl, they are planning to make 280 or more. The cupcakes come in either chocolate buttercream or vanilla …

Ravens Cupcakes Score Points with Elkridge Fans
Kupcakes & Co. said it sold out on the day the new creation debuted.
Before the Ravens beat the Steelers last weekend, they had already won a sweet spot in Elkridge. The purple-frosted Ravens cupcake, which drew a crowd when it debuted last Friday, has quickly become a favorite at Kupcakes & Co. "Everyone LOVED our Ravens cupcakes and we sold out of them very early last Friday," said Michelle Kupiec, owner of the cupcakery, in an email to Elkridge Patch on Sept. 16. "We baked extra today for Purple Friday!" On the Kupcakes & Co. Facebook page, some fans wrote that they were interested in Redskins treats too. For now, it's all Ravens, said staff. Even the normal cupcakes are expensive. Way overpriced for a regular sized cupcake that I can make in my kitchen with a box of Duncan Hines. lol more ›
