Police say the Baltimore County man inappropriately touched students at the Maryland School for the Deaf.
A Howard County Grand Jury Wednesday indicted a 37-year-old Gwynn Oak man on several charges related to accusations that he sexually assaulted students at the Maryland School for the Deaf. Clarence Cepheus Taylor faces seven counts of sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of soliciting a subject for child porn. He has been suspended from his job as a teachers’ aide at the school, according to Howard County police. Taylor was employed as an evening-shift dorm aide at the school between 2008 and 2010 when, according to police, he inappropriately touched female students. Police say a 37-year-old Windsor Mill man inappropriately touched three students.
Howard County police arrested a 37-year-old man today for allegedly inappropriately touching three female students at the Maryland School for the Deaf. According to police, three girls claim Clarence Cepheus Taylor, 37, of Windsor Mill, touched them on multiple occasions between 2008 and 2010 when he was working as an evening-shift dorm aide. One of the girls first reported the incidents to a teacher when she learned that she may not have been the only victim, according to police. One of the girls told police that when she was 12 and 13, Taylor would hug her and rub his hand across her breast in the hallway of the dorm. When Kristina Gilchrist was violently raped by the boy she called her “play brother” at the age of 13, she didn’t tell anyone. “I was already sexually active. I was acting out,” the DC native said Tuesday. “I was really lawless.” After 15 minutes of struggling, being pushed and choked by this boy who had a gun – and who told her both that he loved her and that he was going to kill her – Gilchrist gave up. “I just stopped resisting, stopped fighting,” she said. “I was just there.” Gilchrist had been sexually assaulted by a cousin when she was 7-years-old; she told her parents, was taken to the hospital, and released. David Maya is in custody, according to West Virginia's Wheeling Police Department.
Elkridge resident David Maya, suspected in the June 9 sexual assault of a minor, has been apprehended, according to the Wheeling Police Department in West Virginia. Police said Maya was charged with four counts of sexual assault after he reportedly attacked a 12-year-old girl near a park in Wheeling. Police said he met the girl online. A sergeant with the Wheeling Police told Elkridge Patch that Maya was found in Maryland near Washington, D.C., and is currently in custody. Police said an extradition hearing will be held in the next few days to determine if he will be returned to West Virginia.
