Howard County Fans Head to NOLA for Super Bowl

It's not just the Ravens who are headed to Louisiana - fans are headed down, too.

The Baltimore Ravens are going to New Orleans -- and so are Howard County fans, even if they’re not going to the Super Bowl.  “We are so excited to just be IN the city our beloved Ravens are playing, we can't stand it!” Kim Hildebrand wrote in an email. “We will be happily watching the game with many other Ravens fans, I'm sure, in a local watering hole!” Hildebrand said her daughter Kristen took her dad—Kim’s husband, Fred—for a ride in her new car on Friday and they stopped at a local bar. She said to her dad, “'If the Ravens win on Sunday, wouldn’t it be cool to go to New Orleans and just watch the game in a bar?'”  Dad was in. So was mom. And then? “They actually won!” So there you have it—they’ve rented a house with some friends in …

'Ray Lewis' Makes Heavenly Promise During SNL Appearance

Baltimore Ravens linebacker 'Ray Lewis' said he would be heading to a celestial place if the Ravens win the Super Bowl.

It wasn't really Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis appearing on Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" over the weekend, but Keenan Thompson stood in effectively. Thompson played the effusive linebacker to perfection. He brought the energy, the emotion and of course, the face paint. Watch his exchange with SNL's Seth Meyers above. The best lines: Meyers: A lot of us saw you cry last week during the National Anthem. Thompson: It's just I've never heard that song before. Meyers: You've been playing football your whole life? Thompson: I know, but, I always wear ear plugs before games to block out the sound of my own screams. At the end of the exchange, 'Lewis' explains what's going to happen if the Ravens win the Super Bowl: Thompson: I was …

Would you pay $315,916 to see the Ravens play in Super Bowl XLVII?

Third-party tickets range from $2,000 up to six-figures for big game.

Die-hard Ravens fans will do a lot to show their support for their team, but would they pay almost $316,000 to see them battle the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans? Doug Gardner, who lives in Parkton, MD, has been a fan of the Ravens "since day one" and showed his support for the team by wearing his Ray Rice jersey on top of his business clothes. "I even kept it on for client meetings, including some I was meeting for the first time," he said. When asked about the high third-party ticket prices, Gardner said he's pay "maybe $1,000" to go to the Super Bowl. While tickets for the Super Bowl are always more expensive than regular-season or even playoff games, the StubHub website currently…

Elkridge Shop Prepares for Ravens Cupcake Sales Boom

The store is getting ready for a large order for Super Bowl 2013.

The boom in popularity of Ravens-themed cupcakes from an Elkridge bakery has grown this season and is expected to be at a high for Super Bowl parties next month, staff there said this week. This is the second year Kupcakes & Co, which opened in June of 2011 in Elkridge, has offered the Ravens-themed confections, and fans that had the cupcakes at game-viewing parties in the past tend to order them again, said baker Joanne Jrabowski. “I think people are superstitious, so I think people who have ordered them prior will order them again,” she said. For the AFC Championship, the store made 210 Ravens cupcakes, staff said; for the Super Bowl, they are planning to make 280 or more. The cupcakes come in either chocolate buttercream or vanilla …

Even the normal cupcakes are expensive. Way overpriced for a regular sized cupcake that I can make in my kitchen with a box of Duncan Hines. lol   more ›
