Dinner’s done and the only thing more stuffed than the bird is you. Now the question becomes: What to do with all those leftovers? While many say simple reheating is all that’s necessary to have a “day after” feast, others have elaborate recipes for turning Thanksgiving leftovers into gourmet delights. From savory turkey soups to sinfully delicious pot pies and mile-high sandwiches, everyone has their own ideas on what to do with what’s leftover. Patch has the rundown of what government services are operating this week.
Most Howard County services will be closed Thursday Nov. 22, including trash and recycling pick-ups. The county’s “slide” schedule will be in effect, according to officials. Howard County’s 911 center remains open and staffed 24-7. All county operations resume normal business hours Monday Nov. 26. 43.6 million travelers expected over the holiday weekend, the fourth consecutive increase.
Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner the countdown is on for the most congested roads and crowded airports of the year. AAA is predicting the fourth consecutive increase in the number of Thanksgiving travelers this year, albeit on smaller budgets. The travel group expects 43.6 million Americans will hit the highways and airports over the holiday, a 0.7 percent bump over last year, reports USA Today. But whereas travelers spent on average of $544 last year, they will spend only $498 this year, according to USA Today. Ninety percent of the holiday’s travel will be done by car and 7 percent in the air, The Washington Post reported.
