This Sunday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, a time to recognize and honor those who have served in our nation’s military. But why that day? The Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I, took effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Two vets discussed the connection between motorcycles and the military at the Elkridge restaurant and bar.
Daniels Bar and Restaurant will be serving veterans for free on Friday after 6 p.m. in honor of Veterans Day. “There are a lot of military guys that ride,” said Daniels bartender Una Studley, referring to motorcyclists who frequent Daniels. Military experience hits close to home for the family-owned bar and restaurant. “Dan Daniels was in the service,” said bartender Birda Fortin, naming the bar's previous owner who has since passed away. "We have a lot of patrons in the military," she added. Two of them spoke with Elkridge Patch on Thursday evening about their affiliation with a motorcycle club consisting of vets.
